Daniel Hennessy is the Founder and the Managing Partner of Hennessy Capital Group LLC, a global alternative investment manager he founded in 2013. Since its founding Hennessy Capital Group has emerged as the most active global SPAC Sponsor having raised, co-sponsored and acquired 16 SPAC vehicles over the last decade and closed/announced SPAC mergers with counterparties on 6 continents. Mr. Hennessy is focused on investing in companies leading the energy transition, including sustainable industrial and infrastructure technology, critical minerals, renewables, recycling and waste reduction along with advanced mobility and industrial automation solutions.
Since October, 2021 Mr. Hennessy has served as Chairman & CEO of Hennessy Capital Investment Corp. VI (NASDAQ: HCVI) which has announced it’s merger with Namib Minerals an African gold and battery metals miner. Since October, 2024 he has served as an Investor and Independent Director of Innventure (NASDAQ: INV) a sustainable technology innovator and enabler. He also currently serves as Chairman of Compass Digital Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: CDAQ) which announced it’s merger with EEW Renewables a global utility scale developer operating across solar, hydrogen and battery storage markets.
From 1988 to 2016, Mr. Hennessy served as a Partner at Code Hennessy & Simmons LLC (“CHS”), a Chicago based middle-market private equity investment firm he co-founded in 1988. Prior to forming CHS, Mr. Hennessy was employed by Citicorp from 1984 to 1988 as head of the Midwest Region for Citicorp Mezzanine Investments and Vice President and Team Leader with Citicorp Leveraged Capital Group. He began his career in 1981 in the energy lending group at Continental Illinois National Bank (now Bank of America) where he was a Banking Officer.
Mr. Hennessy holds a BA degree, magna cum laude, from Boston College and MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and has dedicated over 25 years serving nonprofit healthcare, higher education and conservation organizations including Board leadership positions at the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, National MS Society, John G Shedd Aquarium, Georgetown University and Yellowstone Park Foundation.
